Grignan-les-Adhémar white wine: characteristics and appellation
Grignan-les-Adhémar white is a dry white wine belonging to the category of still wines from the southern Rhône Valley. Benefiting from the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC), it guarantees a precise geographical origin and recognized expertise. Château Bizard offers characterful white wines such as Blanc d’Amour and Blanc de Charme, true expressions of the terroir of the Drôme provençale.
History of Grignan-les-Adhémar white wines
The Grignan-les-Adhémar appellation, created in 2010, replaced the former Coteaux du Tricastin appellation. It takes its name from the village of Grignan, located in the heart of the Drôme provençale. The vineyard extends over 21 municipalities and mainly produces red wines (72%), but also white wines (10%) and rosés (18%). White wines occupy a more confidential place but stand out for their finesse and elegance.
Grape varieties of Rhône Valley white wines
Grignan-les-Adhémar white wines are made from a blend of grape varieties adapted to the Mediterranean climate and clay-limestone soils. The main varieties include: – Grenache Blanc – Marsanne – Roussanne – Viognier Each of these varieties brings its own typicity: freshness, roundness, aromatic complexity and floral or fruity notes.
How to serve a Grignan-les-Adhémar white wine
To fully enjoy its aromas, Grignan-les-Adhémar white wine is ideally served between 9°C and 10°C. More mature wines can be enjoyed slightly warmer, between 11°C and 13°C. They are best tasted in a Rhône-style white wine glass and can be decanted to reveal their full aromatic complexity, especially for older vintages. These wines pair perfectly with fish, seafood and Mediterranean cuisine, while also remaining excellent as an aperitif.
Storage of Grignan-les-Adhémar white wines
For optimal storage, bottles should be kept lying down, away from light, in a stable environment. Recommended temperatures: – Aging cellar: 11°C to 13°C – Storage cellar: 12°C to 14°C – Humidity level: 70% to 75% Under these conditions, Grignan-les-Adhémar white wines can be stored for between 3 and 15 years depending on the cuvées and vintages.

Certain vintages stand out particularly for their quality and aging potential. Among the most renowned: 1978, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1998 and 2005. These great years have marked the history of the appellation with their aromatic richness and balance. Some cuvées from exceptional vintages can still delight enthusiasts and collectors today.
